Hardware & Parts

As lifelong guitar nerds, we are well-versed in different styles of parts and hardware and will happily consult with you to find the best parts for your needs. We don't have special relationships or allegiance to any one particular company, and won't try to steer you towards what is cheaper/easier for us. We are simply concerned with making the perfect guitar for you. If that means standard off-the-shelf parts and pickups, so be it. If that means we have to put on our design cap and make a unique one-off piece for your build, so be it.

Below are brief rundowns of the hardware we use most frequently, to help you get an idea of what will work for you. But we will always be sure to let you know if we think different parts will work better for your needs/wants.

Tuner Styles

We are personally big believers in split shaft vintage style tuners. When properly strung/stretched they hold tune perfectly, and look the best while doing it. They also get those pesky string ends out of the way so you dont accidentally stab yourself. (we've all been there)

Locking tuners may sound like they "lock" you in tune but this name only refers to the "locking mechanism" used to hold the strings in place. They eliminate the windings, which can be a source of tuning instability when strings arent properly stretched, but also lead to a bit less downward tension at the headstock, which can introduce issues in itself. The only real benefit of locking tuners in my opinion is easier/faster string changes. But id argue you're maybe saving 15-30 seconds at the very most. If you like locking tuners, we prefer vintage style for the aesthetics. But its your guitar of course, and we will use whatever tuners you want (including those not listed here) as long as they fit.
